A small London wedding, on a Monday, with an international flavour – Canada and China. Kirsten and Kun were joined by family and friends from around the world, for their wedding in the glorious summer sunshine London is known for… Well, the cloudy and rainy summer skies that London delivered… It may have been the start of August but the weather didn’t want to hear this. But it didn’t dent the spirit of the day.

So, coverage begins in a small room at the Travelodge hotel in Southwark. Kirsten’s sister and a friend were on hand – in the chaos – to complete makeup and hair duties. A few miles south-east, on Clapham Common, Kun was delegating duties to his ushers. Holy Trinity church is a landmark in this part of London. Famous for being William Wilberforce’s church – he of the successful anti-slavery movement. Once a grand church in the small village of Clapham, that overlooked London, it now sits in a near roundabout of traffic cut into the Common. Still, a pleasant-looking church, that opened in 1776.

The service was added to by Kirsten’s parents, blessing the couple, as they knelt at the front of the church. It was then some bubbles and into the waiting London taxi cab, for the long trip (in rush hour traffic) and across to Greenwich. It was now that the drizzle began….August in London!

The reception was at the Devonport House hotel. Drinks in the bar, before the meal and speeches. An emotional speech for Kirsten’s father to complete. We even managed a few pictures in the light rain. But there was also the tradition of the Chinese tea ceremony – the couples offering cups of tea to the parents and grandparents. Asking for acceptance into the families.

Then as dusk fell outside, and the rain continued, some dancing – even if the first dance was abruptly cut short by a ‘short’ version of the song.
